Yeah, I watched that today. I also watched the reshowing of the 1989 Holiday Bowl Broadcast Penn State vs BYU- with Tim Brando with the play-by-play and with the Color known other than Vince Dooley

Coach Dooley? I didn’t remember that. I wish I’d left that on.

I got the impression during the game’s sign off by Tim Brando that 1989 was the only year he did it- the typical “It was an honor to work with legend like you” type stuff.

He was actually pretty good. Just because you are a college football legend does not mean that you are a guaranteed to be a good broadcaster and he was. When exactly did he become Athletic Director?

It was weird how young Joe Paterno looked. It was a pretty good game to watch. I had a childhood friend whose family attended the game. San Diego would be a cool road trip.

How old was Danny Ford when he coached that Gator Bowl against the Buckeyes? He didn’t even look 40!

Dooley became AD in the early 80’s. I am guessing Danny was about 45. That was his second season (I think) and he still isn’t that old.
Just listen to Bill Curry to prove your coach=good broadcaster point.

Maybe Dooley just didn’t like it. He sounded all right on the broadcast though; a natural even. ESPN had Phillip Fulmer on there post game special tonight. A usually chatty Fulmer was kind of quiet almost like he didn’t know when to interject or like he was waiting his turn too much; also seem to have a problem looking into the camera. It was kind of a surprise that Fulmer was not a natural at it. He always seemed so comfortable in interviews. I understand ESPN has hired Tommy Bowden and are likely to hire Tuberville next season.

Dooley must have taken over as AD in 1990.

Dooley became AD when Joel Eaves retired. 1980 or 1981?

BBQ, Ball and Bets

There's nothing like a sunny fall afternoon, pork BBQ (with mustard sauce, of course!), a pregame tailgate, and...betting online. You heard me right. With a laptop and an internet connection you can check the odds of any game from the 50 yard line. Now that's convenience and will make your tailgate all the more interesting when some dude mentions just how much of a good bet a certain game is.
