Ah, the weekend.

  • Kyle at Dawg Sports compares Les Miles to Danny Ford.  I think he’s a sage and is dead on.  The Clemson faithful are not amused.  I am of the opinion that time has dampened the memory of Danny Ford’s crazy.  Of course, it is a push on which fan base is most crazy.
  • Was it me, or did Pete Carroll come dangerously close to calling Mark Snachez a dumb kid.
  • I wonder if John Gruden is thinking the Tennessee job isn’t so much a step back now.
  • With all that is going on in the basketball firmament, it is about time to start thinking about who is going to make the NCAA tournament.
  • Who among you feel as I do that we have to be pretty happy as Dawg fans that Lane Kiffin and the SC East crew couldn’t poach any of our assistants, but is doing just fine fishing in other ponds?
  • Speaking of, other than a few times I have thought about how Georgia’s season is going, I honestly haven’t thought about the basketball season in general.
  • Bracketbusters will be named in a few weeks.  For my money, it is the most compelling weekend of college basketball until confernce tournaments start.
  • When is the Super Bowl?  No, really, when?

Danny Ford, come on man. Sell crazy someplace else. We’re all stocked up here.

Gruden will be okay. He can be a D.C. for his brother in the Arena Leauge, if they ever start playing again. Naturally, Georgia fans are floating the balloon about him replacing Willie Martinez, even though there’s no vacancy in Athens. Plus, J.G. can stay busy filming “Child’s Play 7” til his next gig is ready.

Fishing for assistants, of course, can lead to landing recruits from said state. I remember UT got Heath Shuler from North Carolina. It’s always interesting to see how a new coach does; whether he “closes the borders” or raids the other ponds. Spurrier didn’t have much choice at SC. It’s a small state that doesn’t produce a lot of top-tier talent (exception: AJ Greene.

    Bring on March Madness!

A Georgia Dawg in the Mid-West alone with his thoughts.

BBQ, Ball and Bets

There's nothing like a sunny fall afternoon, pork BBQ (with mustard sauce, of course!), a pregame tailgate, and...betting online. You heard me right. With a laptop and an internet connection you can check the odds of any game from the 50 yard line. Now that's convenience and will make your tailgate all the more interesting when some dude mentions just how much of a good bet a certain game is.
