They shoot horses, don’t they?

Ok, no horses got shot, but a conspiracy of events kept me from live blogging from Keeneland in Lexington on Friday.  By ‘conspiracy of events,’ I mean I couldn’t get my BB to work right and they pour bourbon in the AM.

All in all, a great time.  Folks were dressed like it was a football Saturday in Oxford (read: sundresses and sports coats) and despite the persistent rain, lightning, tornado threats and the total epic fail of my horse betting system, we had a great time.  I’m very glad Keeneland didn’t exist in Athens when I was there.  My academic career would have had a very different path.

I did snap a couple of pictures showing the rain (sort of)

Oh, horsies.

Oh, horsies.

and the sections, named by bourbon.

My favorite section.

My favorite section (sorry for the picture quality...)

I’ll have my thoughts on GDay and that little golf tournament in Augusta later.

BBQ, Ball and Bets

There's nothing like a sunny fall afternoon, pork BBQ (with mustard sauce, of course!), a pregame tailgate, and...betting online. You heard me right. With a laptop and an internet connection you can check the odds of any game from the 50 yard line. Now that's convenience and will make your tailgate all the more interesting when some dude mentions just how much of a good bet a certain game is.
