Of course, it always helps to move out of state and get a job paying 61 large.
Yep, Tony Cole is in trouble…again. And someone who stuck their neck out to help him is in trouble…again.
I don’t hate Tony Cole for blabbing to ESPN. I don’t like him because he is an asshat who pisses away God given talent and pisses on people who go out of their way to help him. He was a very dicey project when the Harricks brought him to Athens. The things the Harricks were doing in Athens were already shady (as were the things they did in Los Angeles and Providence, but hey, Jim Harrick was clean at Pepperdine when Mikey Adams knew him). Cole probably did the University a favor by blowing the lid off the basketball program when he did, lest it get really ugly (for further treatment, see Bears, Baylor). However, whatever the Harricks did or didn’t do in regard to his recruitment were done with the intention to give him yet another chance to redeem himself. When he failed to meet expectations, such as go to class and not assault his girlfriend, he was given his walking papers. He decided to talk to ESPN.
He moves around some, ends up in Chicago and gets a cushy job. However, Cook County fires him for failing to disclose that little felony charge in Clarke County for bouncing his rent check. He does what he does best, he levels counter accusations. From jail. You know, because the man is out to get him. And he yet again failed to follow the conditions of his release from his latest scrape with John Q. Law.
The thing that strikes me most is the number of people who are willing to help him and how quickly he turds bombs them back. His latest boss posted bail for him twice. Now she is the one without a job. I guess she had it coming, though. She hired him into a $61K+ a year job after meeting him at a Ruth Chris steak house? On Dale Brown’s recommendation? YGTBFKM.
I wish no ill will on him. I really mean that. But at some point, you have to think someone, somewhere will see through it and just be done with him. I think he has had all the chances he needs.
